Ketchup Clouds - Book Review

Ketchup clouds is a series of letters that our main character Zoe writes to Stuart Harris. A murderer on death row.

Zoe has a secret. A dark secret. One that she doesn't want to keep secret anymore. That's why she starts writing the letters. She connects with Stuart. She pours her heart out. One thing as a reader we never learn and I believe it's a fair point. Do we think Zoe ever sent the letters?  She could have just been getting her secret off her chest?  Unburdening herself. It's something I certainly think about.

This book revolves around our main character Zoe (not her real name), her family and Max and Aaron (two brothers).

I liked Zoe as a character. You felt her pain. I loved her honesty in the letters she wrote. Her situation with both brothers was written well and prove you can't help who you fall for. We learn more about the tragic event. The one that Zoe needs to get off her chest and the lead up to it.

I thought this book was highly enjoyable. The ending, although sad, wrapped the story up well. I definitely now want to read My Sister Lives On The Mantlepiece by the same author.

Definitely one I would recommend.

Whispers In The Dark by Chase J Jackson

Netgalley sent me this book to review.

Adrian Ramirez is looking forward to the start of his new job as a teacher at the elite Finley Academy.

It's the chance that he's been waiting for to teach in such a prestigious school. However when he gets there, he finds that things are not what they seem. The irritating girl Isabelle. The mysterious twins Raven and Robin.

Then there's his home life. Why does he keep on having these crazy dreams?  What in the house is making his girlfriend Lea so scared?

The action started straight away and made you want to keep on reading to find out what happened next. The more involved Adrian gets, the more we as a reader want to know.

The one thing I would say about this book is the ending was kind of predictable. Saying that I did throughly enjoy this book and would recommend if you're looking for a paranormal thriller.

Rain - Virginia Bergin

It rains a lot in England.

You don't think about it. It's a common occurrance right.

What would you do if something that is so common became a danger?  One so dangerous that it actually killed. What if the rain could kill you?  Just one drop.

Rain by Virginia Bergin is just about that. Just one drop of rain will kill you. Something so common has become a killer. No more water to drink, to wash with.

Set in England, the story revolves around our main character Ruby. A fifteen year old girl who is trying to survive in a world where everyone she loves is dead.  Along the way, she meets a young girl and a boy called Darius. A nerd. A boy not cool enough for Ruby. A boy that might just be the last boy on the planet.

The whole premise of this book was quite different. Something that happens nearly every day becoming a killer. It made you think. How would we survive?  Would you want to?  How could you survive with no water?  It's something we all take for granted.

I had one major problem with this book and that was the main character Ruby. I just didn't like her. I found her extremely irritating. I wanted her to be likeable. I wanted to feel for her. The more I read, the more I wished she had just gone out in the rain.

I hated the way she treated Darius. How she spoke to him. For being a nerd, for not being as cool as she thought she was.

Saying all of that, I actually really enjoyed this book. I found it very interesting. I found the whole plot gripping. It really was a page turner.

The next book and final book Storm continues with Ruby's story and from reviews I've read do make you like her a bit more.

I'm definitely going to pick it up soon
