Cinder - Marissa Meyer (A Book Review)

One of the things I love about reading book blogs and watching book tube is the recommendations you can pick up. The books you read about on blogs or videos with people telling you how much they enjoyed the book.

One thing I love about reading is finding a book that you love, a book you just can't put down.

One such book is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. A book that I now can't believe took me so long to buy and read.

If you weren't aware, Cinder is the first in a series of books called The Lunar Chronicles. A series based on fairy tale re-tellings with a sci-fi twist. The first book, as you may have guessed based on Cinderella.

Cinder is based on a girl called CInder. Well not a girl as such, a cyborg. Like the original Cinderella, Cinder lives with her stepmother and stepsisters. Just like the original they see Cinder as a slave. Worthless. An inconvenience. Useless.

Cinder gets on with her everyday life, being a mechanic and doing chores at home.

When a deadly plague starts ravishing the population and affects Cinder's family, she is given away to the authorities by her stepmother for testing.  This is where we find out that Cinder isn't worthless, useless, can make a difference and isn't who we or others think she is (although I did guess before).

From here we follow her adventures in doing what is right, what she is destined for.

Add into the mix, a handsome prince (Prince Kai) and an evil queen (Queen Levana), you have a book that is action packed. A definite page turner.

I loved this book so much that I bought the next book in the series Scarlet straight away. Infact, I'm currently on page 320 and loving every single minute.

If you haven't started this series, I would urge you to pick it up. It certainly deserves all the hype and praise it gets

xx
